An author and entrepreneur, I am originally from China as a student, and have lived in the United States for almost twenty years. I have traveled to different parts of the world and consider myself a world citizen, as I see “the earth is but one country and mankind its citizens.”

I am currently writing a book on the emerging middle class in China, which will be published by Berrett Koehler Publishers in 2009. Based on interviews of real people, the book profiles typical members of the Chinese middle class and navigates through China’s fast changing social and economic landscape. It provides compelling insights on how the Chinese middle class shapes the future of China, as well as the implications for global business.

Unlike many books about China on the market, it argues that the rise of a large Chinese middle class will provide a balancing and complementary force that benefits the world as a whole. The book delivers a powerful message of “oneness,” and it inspires hope and illuminates unity in diversity in a global community.

When I am not writing, I dance, play piano, visit art galleries, and travel. I love all forms of art, enjoy reading poetry and literature, and dream impossible dreams. I am a true believer of what Gandhi said that "we must become the changes we wish to see in the world."

In my "previous life," I worked in the Internet industry in Silicon Valley for ten years. I was the founder and CEO of e-Mobilizer, a social venture to help micro-entrepreneurs in under-served communities access online marketplaces through mobile phones. I also served as Vice President of Silicon Valley - China Wireless Technology Association, and sat on the Board of Stanford Professional Women.

A Reuters Fellow of 2004 -2005 at Stanford, I hold a MA in International Development Policy from Stanford University, a MS in Community Economics from Southern University of New Hampshire, and a BA in English Literature from Hangzhou University, China.
